MusicSphere succeeds funding

The MusicSphere consortium welcomed the positive results of the evaluation with great enthusiasm. The interdisciplinary research project MusicSphere was evaluated together with 23 other proposals under the HORIZON-CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01-01 topic: “A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – Innovative tools for digitisation and analysis of dynamic processes, objects and complex combined data”. The MusicSphere project received an overall evaluation score of 13.5 out of 15.0, managing to be one of the two proposals selected for funding. At the same time, it is one of the 10 selected proposals of the call “A European Collaborative Cloud for Cultural Heritage – 2024 (HORIZON-CL2-2024-HERITAGE-ECCCH-01) ” out of a total of 145 proposals.

The MusicSphere project “A Multimodal Approach for Digitizing, Analysing, and Simulating Traditional Musical Organs Through 3D Technologies, Acoustic Analysis and Interactive Experiences” aims to develop tools that combine advanced technologies for preserving, studying, and providing access to the cultural heritage aspects of traditional musical organs. The project will focus on traditional wind instruments such as Pipe Organs and their ancient Greek counterpart such as ‘Hydraulis’. By employing digital technologies precise digital replicas of these instruments will be created, capturing intricate physical and mechanical details and aiding in the preservation and restoration efforts.

The MusicSphere consortium consists of two research centres (CERTH, FH), three academic partners (IHU, UMA, TULI), five SMEs (CTL, LUTHI, KLAIS, VLABS, SCHUM), one association (EUROXR), and one non-profit CH organisation (HEMO). As such, MusicSphere builds a very strong team of researchers, developers, associations and organisations related to the need of the project, for whom the issue of innovative tools for digitisation and analysis of dynamic processes, objects and complex combined data for acoustics and musical cultural heritage is of importance.

The MusicSphere project is Coordinated by the interdisciplinary team of the Brain, Health & Virtual Reality (BHV) Research Group of CERTH-ITI. It began in October 2025 and its duration is 42 months. MusicSphere is glad to contribute in the Cultural Heritage Cloud ecosystem.
