MusicSphere presented at the Scientific Conference in Padua, Italy
The MusicSphere project was showcased at the scientific conference “L’arte organaria tra prassi costruttive, performative e artistiche” in Padua, Italy, on the 14th November 2025. The conference was organised by the University of Padova in collaboration with the Associazione Italiana Organari.
The conference offered a rich discussion on the art of organ building, examining both national traditions and shared practices across countries. It explored the stylistic and acoustic characteristics of organs, as well as their integration within architectural spaces and the historical and artistic significance of their decorative elements.
MusicSphere contributed with a presentation entitled “Immersive and emerging toolkits for digitising, analysing, and simulating complex church organs: The case of MusicSphere”, authored by the project’s coordinator team: Eleftherios Anastasovitis, Georgia Georgiou, Maria Drousiotou, Spiros Nikolopoulos, and Ioannis Kompatsiaris, members of the Brain, Health & Virtual Reality (BHV) Research Group of the Multimedia Knowledge and Social Media Analytics Laboratory at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH-ITI).

During the presentation, Ms. Georgia Georgiou introduced the aims, objectives, and use cases of the MusicSphere project, while Dr. Eleftherios Anastasovitis focused on the innovative toolkits for church organs, their technical implementation, and their role within the project’s Financial Support to Third Parties (FSTP) Open Call.
The presentation was followed by a constructive Q&A session, during which the research team addressed questions from the audience. The session concluded with a discussion on opportunities for further collaboration in scientific research and innovation.
As part of the closing event, the MusicSphere team also had the opportunity to attend a performance by the Medieval Singing Choir of the Concentus Musicus Patavinus, directed by Maestro Massimo Bisson and accompanied by organist Maestro Ruggero Livieri. The MusicSphere project introduces a multimodal approach for the digitisation, analysis, and simulation of traditional musical organs, combining 3D technologies, acoustic analysis, and interactive experiences. MusicSphere is part of the Cultural Heritage Cloud (ECCCH) developed by ECHOES.
