MusicSphere

A future where anyone can experience and study musical instruments through faithful digital replicas that unite craftsmanship, sound, and space.

project overview

The MusicSphere Project reimagines the way we preserve traditional musical instruments

A large pipe organ in the Néstor Kirchner Cultural Center (CCK) in Buenos Aires, one of the biggest in Latin America. This symphonic pipe organ, built by Gerhard Grenzing, is used for both classical and contemporary music performances and is located in the CCK’s Symphony Hall

By blending cultural heritage with modern technology and introduces an innovative approach for the study and preservation of  traditional and ancient musical instruments, such as church organs and the ancient Hydraulis by combining advanced 3D technologies, acoustic analysis, and immersive digital experiences.

Recognizing these instruments as dynamic cultural artifacts, the project captures not only their physical form and their inner complex structure,  but also their mechanical behaviour, sound production, and interaction with the architectural environment.

The project captures the stories, sounds, and craftsmanship that make these instruments truly alive. Through digital recreation, their voices and movements are brought into the present, allowing us to experience them in ways that were once impossible.

With immersive VR and AR experiences, users can step into historical settings, explore the instruments up close, and even try playing them, keeping ancient traditions vibrant and accessible. At the same time, MusicSphere supports the long-term protection of these artifacts by offering new tools that help conservators understand how they age and how best to care for them.
